Washington, DC – The global semiconductor industry continued its robust growth trajectory in the third quarter of 2024, with sales surging 23.2% year-over-year, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). This significant increase, driven by strong demand across various sectors including automotive, consumer electronics, and data centers, propelled global semiconductor sales to a record-breaking $166.0 billion for the quarter.

Key Highlights:
· Record-Breaking Quarter: September 2024 marked a historic milestone, with global semiconductor sales reaching an all-time high.
· Strong Regional Performance: The Americas experienced the most substantial year-over-year growth, with a 46.3% increase. Other regions, including China (22.9%), Asia Pacific/All Other (18.4%), and Japan (7.7%), also witnessed significant growth.
· Month-to-Month Momentum: September 2024 sales increased in Japan (5.3%), Asia Pacific/All Other (4.5%), the Americas (4.1%), Europe (4.0%), and China (3.6%). compared to August 2024, demonstrating sustained momentum in the market.
Industry Outlook
John Neuffer, SIA President and CEO, expressed optimism about the industry's future, stating, “The global semiconductor market continued to grow during the third quarter of 2024, with quarter-to-quarter sales increasing at the largest rate since 2016.”
